Scotland to Canada Rotary Curling Tour Visits LCC
On Friday, November 11 th , The Rotary Club of London South hosted sixteen Scottish Curling Rotarians at LCC with a Rotary meeting followed by a competitive curling game. The four Canadian teams were made up of Rotarians from Woodstock, Ingersoll, Simcoe, St. Thomas and London. The members of the Scottish Teams arrived in Toronto on November 6 and spent the next three weeks touring southwestern, central and eastern Ontario playing 13 curling games where the scores of all games were aggregated to determine the overall winner which this time turned out to be Canada!
This friendship curling exchange of like-minded Rotarians has been going back and forth across the “pond" every two years (except during Covid) for 66 years! Participants are billeted by Rotarians in each town/city.
LCC member, Brenda Rouse, was a tour member to Scotland in 2018 and was pleased to have the opportunity to host the tour in London on Remembrance Day. The visitors were especially pleased to have Joyce Hetherington and her RCAF veteran 100-year old husband, Tom Hennessey, stop by to share his WWII Spitfire pilot experiences with them.
